speaks on the
German Officers’ Resistance against Hitler and the
Failed Assassination Attempt in July 1944

The talk will address the resistance movement within the German Wehrmacht and the failed attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler between 1938 and 1945. On July 20, 2004, Germany commemorated the failed assassination attempt against Hitler that constitutes one of the most significant events of World War II. Count Claus von Stauffenberg and his co-conspirators almost succeeded in killing Hitler and thus changing the course of history. The details of the plot are extraordinary. A huge number of senior German army officers-many of whom had never been comfortable with Hitler-were implicated or were aware of it.
