Born in Eger (CSSR) in 1951, studied at the University of Economics in Bratislava and lives in Austria since 1975. In 1986 she started writing in German: prose, poetry, and drama. Numerous publications, among them the novel “Berg,” adapted for the screen, and plays that have been put on stage worldwide, the last being “Odysseus Never Returned,” New York, 2005. Translations into Slovak. Her plays have been presented in Austria, Germany, the Czech and Slovak Republics, and in the United States in Iowa City, St. Louis, Portland, Maine and New York City. Ms. Becker has also written for television and radio.
Zdenka also has worked as an actor, dramaturg, director, journalist, teacher, editor, and translator.
